Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Melaka and other tourism centers. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, cruise services and travel companies commonly recruit kitchen, housekeeping, service and guest-relations staff. The country has a multicultural lifestyle influenced by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with diverse food, festivals and languages. Kuala Lumpur provides urban convenience, shopping and public transport, while island destinations offer beaches, diving and a slower pace of life. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work permit or Employment Pass, depending on the role, nationality and salary; working without authorization is not permitted. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, medical checks, contract terms and relocation costs before accepting an offer. Malaysia is warm year-round, and living expenses vary significantly between the capital and resort areas.
