The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers a highly international lifestyle, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, events, finance, technology and construction provide substantial job opportunities. The culture blends Emirati traditions with communities from around the world; modest dress and respectful behaviour are appreciated, especially in public and religious settings. Life is modern and convenient, with excellent transport, beaches, shopping, dining and entertainment, although summer heat and living costs can be significant. For most overseas hires, the employer arranges an employment entry permit, medical examination, Emirates ID and residence visa. Do not work on a tourist visa. Employers commonly provide or contribute to health insurance and may offer accommodation, transport, flights or relocation support, but benefits vary. Before moving, confirm salary, commission, housing, working hours, probation and visa sponsorship in writing.
