Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality, finance, technology, education, healthcare, manufacturing and retail opportunities, with the strongest concentration around Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor and Sabah. Its culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages and welcoming communities. Daily life is generally affordable compared with many major international cities, although Kuala Lumpur and popular island destinations can be more expensive. Malaysia has tropical weather, excellent food, modern shopping facilities and easy access to beaches, rainforests and cultural attractions. Setia Alam is a suburban area with malls, restaurants, parks and good road access to Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam. Foreign employees normally need an Employment Pass sponsored and arranged by the hiring company before starting work. Applicants should confirm eligibility, salary requirements, medical checks and dependent-pass rules with the employer and Malaysian authorities. A relocation budget should include housing deposits, transport, insurance and initial living costs.
