This role supports EY’s Financial Services Risk Consulting team in advising insurers on non-life actuarial matters, including pricing, reserving, capital modelling, risk management, regulatory requirements and Solvency II. Candidates are typically expected to hold or be progressing toward actuarial qualification through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or a comparable professional body, with relevant experience in general insurance. Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings clearly to clients and senior stakeholders. The successful candidate should be commercially aware, organised and comfortable managing multiple projects, contributing to business development and working collaboratively in a consulting environment.
EY is a global professional services organisation providing assurance, consulting, strategy, tax and transaction services. Its Financial Services practice works with banks, insurers, asset managers and other financial institutions on issues including regulatory change, risk management, actuarial modelling, technology, transactions and business transformation. EY Ireland has offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford, and employs professionals across consulting, audit, tax and corporate finance. The firm offers structured learning, professional qualification support and opportunities to work with both Irish and international clients. In this position, EY’s risk consulting specialists help insurance companies understand and manage financial, operational and regulatory risks, while improving decision-making and resilience. The company places emphasis on teamwork, innovation, inclusion, professional development and delivering practical advice in a changing financial-services environment.
Ireland offers strong opportunities in financial services, insurance, technology, consulting, pharmaceuticals and professional services, with Dublin as the main employment hub. Irish workplaces are generally collaborative and informal, and communication is direct but friendly. The country provides a good lifestyle, with vibrant cities, historic towns, coastal scenery and easy access to outdoor activities. Dublin has the widest range of jobs but also the highest rents; Cork, Galway and Limerick can offer a somewhat lower cost of living. Non-EU/EEA and non-Swiss nationals normally need an employment permit and, depending on nationality and duration, an entry visa. Highly skilled roles may qualify for a Critical Skills Employment Permit, subject to salary and occupation requirements. Relocating candidates should arrange accommodation early, obtain a PPS number, open a bank account and understand healthcare, taxation and transport costs. Ireland’s weather is mild but changeable, with frequent rain.
