About the employer

Halliburton is one of the world’s major energy services companies, providing products and services to support oil and gas exploration, drilling, well construction, completion, production, and reservoir evaluation. Founded in 1919, the company operates across numerous countries and serves national, international, and independent energy producers. Its work combines engineering, chemistry, digital technologies, equipment, and field expertise to help customers develop and manage energy resources. Halliburton places strong emphasis on operational safety, technical quality, environmental responsibility, and workforce development. In Malaysia, its activities include support for offshore and onshore energy operations, with technical and operational roles based in locations such as Labuan, a key regional oil-and-gas hub.

Working in Malaysia

Labuan is a small federal island territory off the coast of Sabah and an important Malaysian offshore oil-and-gas centre. Job opportunities are strongest in energy services, marine operations, logistics, engineering, laboratories, finance, hospitality, and government-linked businesses. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business, while Malay is the national language. Lifestyle is generally quieter and less expensive than Kuala Lumpur, with beaches, diving, duty-free shopping, seafood, and a relaxed community atmosphere. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit or Employment Pass, and the company usually handles approval and immigration procedures. Relocating workers should confirm housing, medical coverage, transport, tax obligations, and dependent arrangements before arrival. Kota Kinabalu and mainland Sabah are accessible by air or sea, although flights and ferry schedules should be checked in advance.
