The National Transport Manager is responsible for planning, managing and improving DHL’s transport operations across the United Kingdom. Typical requirements include substantial experience in transport or logistics management, knowledge of UK transport legislation, fleet and carrier management, budget control, KPI reporting and strong people leadership. A relevant qualification such as a CPC, logistics degree or professional transport certification may be advantageous. DHL expects the candidate to deliver safe, compliant and cost-effective transportation, maintain high service standards, build effective relationships with customers and suppliers, and lead continuous-improvement initiatives. Strong communication, commercial awareness, problem-solving ability and confidence using operational data are important.
DHL is a global logistics and supply-chain company operating in more than 220 countries and territories. It provides express delivery, freight transportation, warehousing, contract logistics, e-commerce fulfilment and supply-chain management services. DHL is part of DHL Group, which also includes major divisions such as DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain and DHL eCommerce. In the United Kingdom, the company employs people across transport, warehouse operations, technology, customer service, engineering, commercial and corporate functions. DHL places strong emphasis on safety, sustainability, operational excellence, inclusion and employee development. Its scale provides opportunities to work with major international customers and progress through specialist, managerial and regional career paths. The company is also investing in lower-emission fleets, digital tools and more sustainable logistics networks.
The United Kingdom offers strong opportunities in transport, logistics, supply chain, technology, healthcare, finance, engineering and professional services, with particularly large employment markets around London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol and Glasgow. British workplace culture is generally professional, relatively informal and respectful of personal boundaries, punctuality and clear communication. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to quieter coastal and rural communities, with good public transport, cultural attractions and access to countryside. Living costs are highest in London and the South East. Visa requirements depend on nationality; many overseas professionals need employer sponsorship under routes such as the Skilled Worker visa, while Irish citizens have separate rights under the Common Travel Area. Relocating usually involves securing a job offer, checking sponsorship eligibility, arranging accommodation, obtaining a National Insurance number and understanding tax, healthcare and pension arrangements.
