Working in Qatar

Qatar is a compact Gulf country rather than an island, known for Doha’s modern skyline, museums, beaches, shopping, and international events. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, education, and technology offer employment opportunities, although many roles require relevant experience and employer sponsorship. Qatar’s culture is welcoming but conservative; modest dress, respect for Islamic customs, and awareness of Ramadan practices are important. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living and restaurants to desert trips, water sports, and quiet residential communities. Most expatriates relocate to Doha, where accommodation, transport, and healthcare vary by employer package. Employees normally need a work visa and residence permit arranged by their sponsoring company; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Before accepting an offer, confirm salary, housing or allowance, transport, medical insurance, annual leave, flights, and contract terms. Summers are extremely hot, while winter offers more comfortable outdoor conditions.
