Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is a modern Gulf destination with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, events, retail, aviation, tourism and business services. Dubai offers a fast-paced, international lifestyle, excellent public transport, beaches, shopping, desert activities and a wide choice of restaurants and entertainment. The culture blends Emirati traditions with communities from around the world; modest dress and respectful behavior are expected, especially during Ramadan and in public places. Most hospitality employees work shifts, including weekends and holidays. Employers commonly sponsor a UAE employment visa, arrange a medical examination and issue a work permit, although benefits differ by contract. Relocating candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, meals, insurance, annual leave and airfare before accepting an offer. Living costs can be high, particularly for private housing, but staff accommodation and transport may reduce expenses. The UAE has no personal income tax on salary.
