Working in Australia

Australia is a large island country with strong opportunities in hospitality, especially in Cairns, Queensland, where hotels, resorts, restaurants and tour operators regularly recruit kitchen, housekeeping and guest-service staff. Cairns has a warm tropical lifestyle, multicultural communities, outdoor cafés and easy access to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest. Living costs, particularly rent, can be high, so shared accommodation and reliable transport are useful. Common visa pathways include the Working Holiday visa for eligible young travellers, employer-sponsored visas and student visas with work rights. Applicants should check current requirements through the Australian Department of Home Affairs, including age limits, health insurance and work restrictions. Relocating usually requires a tax file number, Australian bank account and suitable accommodation. Cairns’ wet season brings heavy rain, while the dry season is cooler and popular with visitors.
