Candidates should have previous hotel housekeeping experience, ideally in a supervisory or senior attendant position, along with strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills. The role requires the ability to train and motivate team members, work efficiently under time pressure, handle physical tasks, and maintain high luxury-hotel standards. Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and varied shifts is expected. Experience with hotel systems and knowledge of health, safety and chemical-handling procedures would be advantageous.

Working in New Zealand

New Zealand offers hospitality opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, housekeeping, kitchens, tourism and adventure activities, particularly in Queenstown, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and seasonal destinations. The culture is generally friendly, informal and multicultural, with respect for personal space, reliability and work-life balance. Lifestyle attractions include mountains, lakes, beaches, hiking, skiing and a strong outdoor community, although housing and transport can be costly in popular tourist areas. Most international workers need an appropriate visa, such as a Working Holiday Visa, Accredited Employer Work Visa or residence pathway; requirements depend on nationality, age, qualifications and the employer. A job offer may be needed for an employer-sponsored visa. Before relocating, candidates should check Immigration New Zealand requirements, arrange accommodation, obtain an IRD tax number and budget for variable seasonal employment.
