Working in Thailand

Thailand offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, sales, diving, wellness and event management, especially in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi and Pattaya. Bangkok provides the widest range of corporate and hospitality jobs, while the islands offer a more relaxed lifestyle, beaches and strong seasonal tourism. Thai culture values politeness, respect, hospitality and appropriate dress, particularly in temples and workplaces. Living costs vary: Bangkok is more urban and expensive, while smaller islands can be cheaper but may have seasonal housing and transport challenges. Foreign employees generally need a Non-Immigrant B visa and a Thai work permit arranged with employer support before starting work. Employers may request certified qualifications, a police clearance and medical documents. Research accommodation, healthcare, insurance and rainy-season conditions before relocating.
