About the employer

Grand Mercure Dubai Downtown is an upscale hotel in Dubai operated under the Grand Mercure brand, part of Accor, a major international hospitality group. Grand Mercure properties combine local character, thoughtful design and personalised service with the standards and resources of a global hotel company. The Dubai Downtown property serves business and leisure travellers and typically supports accommodation, dining, meetings, events and guest experiences. Employees work in a multicultural environment with opportunities to collaborate across hotel departments and develop hospitality, technical and leadership skills. Accor operates a broad portfolio of hotel brands worldwide and promotes professional development, inclusion and internal mobility. As a franchised hotel, day-to-day employment terms may be managed locally, so benefits, working hours and policies can differ from those at directly operated Accor properties.

Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering particularly strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, events, retail, aviation, technology and construction. The culture is multicultural and welcoming, while Islamic traditions, modest public behaviour and respect for local laws are important. Dubai provides modern housing, public transport, international schools, shopping and extensive dining, but accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Summers are extremely hot, so indoor, air-conditioned lifestyles are common. Most foreign employees need an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit; the employer generally arranges medical testing, Emirates ID and sponsorship formalities. Applicants should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, leave, probation and recruitment fees before accepting an offer. Relocating staff should bring certified documents and budget for initial housing and living costs.
