Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, events and business services. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress and respect for local customs are important, especially during Ramadan. Dubai provides a fast-paced lifestyle, modern infrastructure, beaches, desert activities, shopping and a large expatriate community, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Most foreign employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange entry permits, medical testing, Emirates ID processing and health insurance, but contracts should be checked carefully for accommodation, transport, flights and gratuity. Relocating applicants should verify passport validity, qualifications, criminal-record requirements and visa conditions before travelling, and budget for deposits and initial living costs.
