Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the broadest hospitality and tourism opportunities. Hotels, restaurants, resorts, catering companies, airlines, retail, events, and entertainment venues regularly recruit international staff. UAE workplaces are multicultural, professional, and generally service focused; Arabic and Islamic traditions influence public life, while English is widely used at work. Dubai offers warm weather, modern infrastructure, extensive shopping, beaches, nightlife, and a fast-paced lifestyle, though rent and living costs can be high. Employers normally sponsor a work visa, residence permit, medical examination, and Emirates ID after an employment offer; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Confirm who pays visa costs, accommodation, transport, insurance, and airfare before accepting. New arrivals should budget for deposits, learn local laws and customs, and check contract terms carefully.
