Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates rather than an island, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of aviation, logistics, hospitality, retail, technology and professional opportunities. The culture combines traditional Emirati values, Islamic customs and a highly international workforce. Respectful dress and behaviour are expected, particularly in public and religious places. Lifestyle options range from modern city living, beaches and shopping to desert activities and quieter communities. Employers normally arrange an employment residence visa, work permit, medical examination and Emirates ID after hiring; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Relocating workers should confirm housing, transport, insurance, benefits and probation terms in writing. Dubai and Abu Dhabi can be expensive, while shared accommodation and employer transport may reduce costs. Public transport is strong in major cities, though airport shift workers may prefer company transport or a car.
