Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers a highly international lifestyle across seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi providing the largest concentration of professional opportunities. Aviation, tourism, logistics, finance, technology, healthcare, construction and retail are major employment sectors. English is widely used in business, while Arabic is the official language. The culture combines modern city life with Islamic traditions, so respectful dress and behaviour are important, particularly during Ramadan. Residents enjoy beaches, shopping, restaurants, desert activities and excellent transport links, although summers are extremely hot. Most foreign employees need an employment visa sponsored by their employer; the company normally arranges the work permit, medical examination and Emirates ID process. Before relocating, confirm salary, housing, health insurance, annual leave and relocation benefits. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are relatively expensive, especially for rent, while other emirates may offer lower living costs.
