Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality and engineering opportunities in island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, and parts of Sabah. Resort jobs commonly include hotel operations, food and beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, marine activities, spa services, and guest relations. Malay is the national language, while English is widely used in hotels and tourism; Chinese and Tamil are also common. Island life is generally relaxed, warm, and community-oriented, with beaches, seafood, outdoor activities, and a lower pace than major cities, although transport and specialist services can be limited. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass or appropriate work permit and should not begin work on a tourist visa. Employers often assist with permits, accommodation, meals, and relocation, but benefits vary. Confirm the property location, housing, transport, work authorisation, and contract terms before accepting an offer.
