Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact island city-state and a major hub for hospitality, finance, technology, aviation and international business. Hotels and resorts offer opportunities in sales, revenue, food and beverage, events, rooms, engineering and guest services, although competition is strong. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle benefits include excellent public transport, safe neighbourhoods, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy access to Southeast Asia. Housing and childcare can be expensive, particularly near central districts. Overseas hires normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to current salary, qualification and Ministry of Manpower requirements. Candidates should secure a written offer before relocating, check pass eligibility, arrange temporary accommodation, budget carefully and confirm medical insurance, taxes and dependent-pass options with the employer.
