Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, procurement, food and beverage, retail and corporate services, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and resort areas. Langkawi is Malaysia’s best-known island destination, with beaches, mangroves, nature activities and a relaxed resort lifestyle. Penang combines heritage architecture, diverse food, arts and a lively urban community, while Sabah’s islands provide excellent diving and outdoor experiences. Local culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business and hotels. Living costs vary: Kuala Lumpur and Penang are generally convenient, while island accommodation and transport may be more seasonal or expensive. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for a valid Employment Pass before starting work. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, relocation support and work-permit arrangements directly with the employer.
