Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotel finance, accounting, tourism, technology, healthcare, education, manufacturing, and professional services. Major hospitality employers are found in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak. Life varies from fast-paced city living to relaxed island and coastal communities, with affordable food, diverse cultures, tropical weather, and strong Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences. English is widely used in business, although Malay is the national language. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and the company normally handles application and immigration procedures before arrival. Qualifications, passport validity, medical checks, and role-specific approvals may be required. Relocation costs and accommodation support depend on the employer. Popular destinations such as Penang and Langkawi offer beaches, heritage areas, outdoor activities, and international communities, while Kuala Lumpur provides broader career options, transport links, schools, and modern services.
