The F&B Sales Manager is responsible for promoting the hotel’s restaurants, bars, banquets, catering and dining packages to corporate clients, travel partners and individual customers. Requirements typically include a diploma or degree in hospitality, business or marketing, relevant hotel or food-and-beverage sales experience, strong communication skills and commercial awareness. The candidate is expected to generate revenue, build client relationships, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, coordinate with operations, monitor market trends and achieve monthly sales targets. Knowledge of local Malaysian business practices and proficiency in English are usually important; additional languages and experience with luxury hospitality are advantageous.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa. The company is known for personalised service, upscale accommodation, extensive dining concepts and resort experiences. Its Malaysian properties serve business travellers, leisure guests, weddings, meetings and international events. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on genuine hospitality, employee development, guest satisfaction and operational excellence. Depending on the property, employees may receive service charge, meals, uniforms, medical coverage, staff rates and other hotel benefits. Working for the group can provide exposure to international standards, luxury food and beverage operations, corporate sales and large-scale events.
Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events and tourism, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and coastal destinations. Langkawi is a popular island choice, with a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and a growing luxury-resort sector; Penang offers richer heritage, food culture and urban convenience. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in hospitality. Living costs vary, with island locations generally more expensive for housing and imported goods. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and approval must be secured before starting work. Relocation requires budgeting for accommodation, transport, healthcare, banking and weather-related travel disruption.
