About the employer

Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Singapore, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. The group is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive properties in major cities and resort destinations. Shangri-La hotels offer accommodation, restaurants, bars, events, wellness facilities and guest experiences for leisure and business travelers. The company places strong emphasis on customer care, colleague development, operational excellence and responsible business practices. An Executive Chef joining Shangri-La would typically work within a multicultural environment, supporting several food-and-beverage outlets while protecting brand standards and localizing menus for each destination. Benefits may include service charge, meals, uniform, medical coverage, staff accommodation or housing support, and opportunities for internal or international career progression, depending on the property and employment package.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers opportunities for experienced hospitality professionals across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort islands. Luxury hotels and resorts commonly recruit chefs, restaurant managers, wellness specialists, engineers and guest-service leaders, with the strongest concentration in Bali and Jakarta. Local culture values respect, hospitality, community and religious diversity; modest dress and sensitivity during ceremonies are important. Island living can offer beaches, outdoor activities and a relaxed lifestyle, although traffic, seasonal tourism and varying infrastructure should be considered. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate Indonesian work and stay permit, commonly arranged through the hiring company before employment begins. Requirements, fees and permitted activities can change, so candidates should confirm details with Shangri-La and Indonesian immigration authorities. Relocation planning should include accommodation, health insurance, banking, tax registration, transportation and schooling where relevant. Bahasa Indonesia is useful, while English is widely used in international hotels.
