Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. Event sales professionals may find roles in luxury hotels, convention venues, beach resorts and destination-wedding businesses. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hotels. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed island life, with affordable food, tropical weather and good regional travel. Langkawi is especially attractive for resort workers, while Penang combines heritage, food and urban convenience. Foreign employees generally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; they should not begin work before approval and should confirm current immigration requirements. Relocation costs, accommodation, transport, medical cover and service charges vary by property, so these should be checked carefully in the offer.
