The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors and related areas to Shangri-La standards. Duties include changing linen, replenishing amenities, reporting maintenance issues, handling guest requests and maintaining safe, hygienic working practices. Candidates should be physically fit, detail-oriented, reliable and comfortable working shifts, weekends and public holidays. Previous hotel housekeeping or room attendant experience is preferred, while a positive attitude, teamwork, discretion and good guest-service skills are essential. Basic Cantonese, English or Mandarin communication is useful in Hong Kong.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its Asian-inspired service, premium hotels and resorts, and emphasis on genuine care for guests. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations under the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. Its Hong Kong hotels serve business and leisure travellers, offering accommodation, restaurants, banqueting, wellness facilities and conference services. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured operating standards, training opportunities and career pathways across hotel departments and locations. As a Room Attendant, the focus is on maintaining high standards of cleanliness, comfort, privacy and presentation while contributing to the warm, attentive service associated with the Shangri-La brand.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Hospitality jobs are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Lantau and the New Territories, with many international hotels recruiting housekeeping, food and beverage, front-office and culinary staff. The culture is fast-paced, efficient and multicultural, combining Cantonese traditions with global influences. Lifestyle options range from dense city living and excellent public transport to beaches, hiking trails, islands and country parks. Rent can be high, especially near Central and major business districts, so many workers share accommodation or live in Kowloon or the New Territories. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa before starting work; applications require a confirmed offer, suitable qualifications or experience and proof of a genuine vacancy. Successful applicants receive a Hong Kong identity card and should arrange housing, insurance and banking after arrival.
