The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other destinations under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, Hotel Jen, and Traders. Its Hong Kong hotels are known for high service standards, refined dining, business facilities, and strong emphasis on personalized guest experiences. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured operating procedures, training opportunities, and clear expectations around courtesy, discretion, grooming, and teamwork. Shangri-La places particular importance on genuine care for guests and consistent service delivery, making guest-facing roles suitable for candidates who are confident communicators and enjoy creating memorable experiences in an international luxury-hotel setting.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a major international city and coastal territory rather than a single island, combining a dense urban core with beaches, hiking trails, outlying islands, and a highly efficient transport network. Hospitality offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, airlines, and guest services, especially for candidates with Cantonese, English, Mandarin, or other language skills. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; people value efficiency, courtesy, hard work, and professional presentation. Lifestyle options range from busy city living and excellent dining to hiking, beaches, markets, and vibrant nightlife. Rent can be expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so employer housing or relocation support is worth checking. Most overseas professionals need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, and the role must meet immigration requirements. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health insurance, banking, and local transport access before starting work.
