The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide practical legal advice to Shangri-La’s corporate and business teams, supporting commercial agreements, hotel operations, investments, financing, corporate governance, compliance, risk management and dispute resolution. The role typically requires a Hong Kong law qualification or equivalent common-law experience, substantial in-house or private-practice experience, and strong knowledge of commercial contracts and corporate matters. Candidates should demonstrate sound judgment, excellent drafting and negotiation skills, commercial awareness, discretion and the ability to work with senior stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions. Fluency in English is essential; Cantonese and Mandarin, together with regional hospitality or Asia-Pacific experience, would be advantageous. The successful candidate is expected to manage competing priorities independently and deliver clear, practical advice in a fast-paced international organisation.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected coastal city with a major island at its core, surrounded by vibrant districts, mountains, beaches and outlying islands. It offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, law, technology, retail, aviation and professional services, with many regional headquarters based here. Cantonese is the everyday language, while English is widely used in business and Mandarin is increasingly important. Life is fast-paced and urban, but hiking trails, country parks, ferries and beaches provide easy escapes. Housing is expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in central areas, so many professionals live in Kowloon or the New Territories. Overseas professionals normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, and must show relevant qualifications and a genuine job offer. Employers often assist with visa paperwork, relocation and sometimes housing allowances. Public transport is excellent, and international schools and healthcare are widely available.
