The Audio & Video Technician supports hotel meetings, conferences, banquets and guest events by installing, operating and maintaining sound, lighting, projection, video-conferencing and other audiovisual equipment. Candidates should have relevant technical training or experience in audiovisual, broadcast, events or hotel operations, with practical knowledge of cabling, signal flow, troubleshooting and equipment safety. The role requires strong customer service, clear communication and the ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Shangri-La expects a reliable, well-presented team member who can respond quickly to technical issues, coordinate with event organizers and other departments, maintain equipment records, and deliver smooth, professional event experiences.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and recognized internationally for warm service, distinctive properties and a strong focus on guest experience. The company operates hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other destinations. Shangri-La properties commonly provide accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities, meeting spaces and large-scale event services, creating a wide range of operational and technical roles. In the United Arab Emirates, the group is associated with premium city and resort hospitality and serves leisure travelers, business guests, conferences and celebrations. Employees are generally expected to demonstrate professionalism, cultural awareness, teamwork and genuine hospitality while maintaining the high service and presentation standards associated with the Shangri-La brand.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality and events job markets. Opportunities are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, entertainment venues, conference centers, airlines and audiovisual production companies. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati heritage and a highly international population; respectful dress and behavior are important, especially during Ramadan. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping, desert activities, dining and a busy expatriate community, although housing and transport costs can be high. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange entry permits, medical testing, Emirates ID processing and sometimes accommodation, transport or health insurance. Candidates should confirm the complete package, probation terms, working hours, overtime policy and document requirements before relocating. English is widely used, while Arabic is beneficial.
