The Corporate Social Sustainability (CSR) Executive supports Shangri-La’s environmental, social and community programmes in Malaysia. Requirements typically include a degree or diploma in sustainability, communications, hospitality, business or a related field, together with experience in CSR, ESG, community engagement, project coordination or corporate communications. Strong written and spoken English, excellent organisational skills, stakeholder management ability and confidence preparing reports, presentations and promotional materials are expected. Knowledge of sustainability standards, environmental initiatives and social-impact measurement is advantageous. The successful candidate should be proactive, responsible, culturally sensitive and comfortable coordinating with hotel teams, local communities, charities, suppliers and corporate stakeholders. The role may also involve organising volunteering activities, tracking sustainability performance and supporting internal awareness campaigns.

About the employer

Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. The group is recognised for its Asian-inspired service culture, premium accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities and event services. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. Shangri-La properties commonly place strong emphasis on guest experience, colleague development, community involvement and responsible business practices. In Malaysia, the company operates well-known hotels and resorts in destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Rasa Ria. A Corporate Social Sustainability Executive would support the organisation’s efforts to reduce environmental impact, contribute to local communities, encourage responsible operations and communicate sustainability progress across hotel departments and external partners.

Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sustainability, finance, technology, education and healthcare. Major employment centres include Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. Island destinations provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and multicultural communities, although transport, housing and imported goods may cost more than on the mainland. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business and hospitality. Employees usually enjoy varied food, warm weather and relatively affordable living. Foreign nationals generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate Employment Pass or work authorisation before starting work; the employer normally handles the application. Requirements vary by nationality, salary and contract duration, so candidates should confirm details with Shangri-La and Malaysian immigration authorities. Relocating staff should arrange verified accommodation, health insurance, banking access and transport, and understand local customs, public holidays and employment conditions.
