Shangri-La generally offers structured hotel careers, international service practices and opportunities to work with multicultural teams. Benefits and employment conditions vary by property and position, but may include staff meals, accommodation or allowances, medical coverage, training, service benefits and hotel discounts. Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur as well as island and coastal destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and parts of Sabah. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, event venues and tourism companies regularly recruit sales, guest services, culinary and management professionals. The culture is multicultural, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous communities, with strong traditions of respectful hospitality and diverse food. Lifestyle varies from busy city living to relaxed beach or island communities; living costs are generally moderate, though popular resort areas can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling approval and immigration procedures. Candidates should confirm eligibility, contract terms, accommodation, insurance and relocation support before accepting an offer. Malaysia’s tropical climate, public transport in major cities and widespread English use make relocation relatively accessible.
