The Hygiene/EHS Coordinator supports food hygiene, workplace health, environmental protection and safety standards at Shangri-La. Typical requirements include a relevant diploma or degree, knowledge of UAE health and safety regulations, HACCP and food-safety systems, strong inspection and reporting skills, and good spoken and written English. Hotel, hospitality or facilities experience is preferred. The successful candidate is expected to conduct inspections, monitor hygiene practices, coordinate training, investigate incidents, maintain compliance records, support audits and follow up on corrective actions. The Emiratisation Program indicates that the role is intended for, or strongly supports, UAE national employment and development.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. Its properties are known for personalised service, high-quality accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities and event services. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on Asian-inspired hospitality, guest satisfaction, employee development and responsible business practices. In the United Arab Emirates, the group operates prominent luxury hotels and resorts, including properties in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured operating standards and opportunities to build careers in hotel operations, food and beverage, engineering, guest services and corporate functions.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with major opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, finance and technology. Dubai and Abu Dhabi offer the largest employment markets, while Ras Al Khaimah and other emirates are growing in resort tourism. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati heritage and a highly international population; modest dress and respect for local customs are expected. Lifestyle options range from beaches and desert activities to shopping, dining and cultural attractions, although housing and schooling can be expensive. Most expatriates require employer-sponsored residence and work visas, with medical checks and Emirates ID registration. Employers commonly provide health insurance and may offer accommodation or allowances, transport and annual flights. UAE nationals should check Emiratisation eligibility and program requirements directly with the employer.
