The Housekeeping Coordinator supports the housekeeping department by coordinating room assignments, updating room-status information, handling guest requests, preparing reports, and communicating with front office, engineering, laundry, and housekeeping teams. Candidates should have hotel or hospitality experience, strong organisation and communication skills, attention to detail, and confidence using computers and hotel systems. Fluency in English is generally required; Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable in Hong Kong. The successful candidate is expected to remain calm under pressure, maintain accurate records, respond promptly to operational issues, protect guest privacy, and deliver Shangri-La’s service standards. Shift work, weekends, and public holidays are normally required.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognised internationally for high-quality hotels, resorts, residences, and related services. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other major destinations under the Shangri-La brand and associated hospitality concepts. Its hotels are known for attentive service, refined accommodation, extensive dining facilities, wellness offerings, and strong local character. Shangri-La places emphasis on genuine hospitality, guest satisfaction, staff development, teamwork, and responsible business practices. In Hong Kong, its well-known properties include Island Shangri-La and Kowloon Shangri-La, serving business travellers, leisure guests, residents, and major events. Working for the company can provide structured hotel training, international exposure, and opportunities to progress across rooms division and wider hospitality operations.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology, education, and professional services. Hospitality roles are concentrated around Central, Admiralty, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, the airport, and major resort properties. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, efficient public transport, excellent food, festivals, and a fast-paced working environment. Lifestyle options range from dense urban living and extensive shopping to hiking, beaches, islands, and country parks. Rent can be high, especially in central districts, so many employees share accommodation or live in areas with convenient MTR access. Foreign nationals generally need an appropriate work visa before starting employment; the employer commonly supports applications under Hong Kong employment arrangements, subject to qualifications and approval. Candidates should prepare passports, academic records, employment references, and medical or background documents if requested. Hong Kong’s healthcare, banking, and transport systems are well developed, making relocation practical with proper planning.
