Hong Kong is a major international business and tourism hub with opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, aviation, logistics and security. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences, and Cantonese, English and Mandarin are widely encountered. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking and islands such as Lantau and Cheung Chau. Housing can be expensive, especially near Central and popular residential districts, so many workers live farther out or share accommodation. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer before starting work; requirements include a confirmed job and suitable qualifications or experience. Employers commonly assist with the application, but candidates should confirm visa, accommodation, insurance and dependent arrangements directly with the company and Hong Kong authorities.
