Shangri-La is a global luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other destinations. Its properties are known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and a strong focus on guest experiences. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates established city and resort properties, serving leisure travellers, corporate clients, weddings, conferences and large-scale events. The company offers career opportunities across hotel operations, food and beverage, sales, finance, engineering and guest services. Employees may benefit from structured training, international exposure, staff rates and opportunities to move between properties. An F&B Sales Manager would typically work closely with hotel sales, banquet, restaurant, culinary and revenue teams to grow business while maintaining Shangri-La’s service and brand standards.
Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events and corporate services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Johor. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business and hospitality. Lifestyle options range from busy city living to relaxed island and coastal communities, with generally affordable food and transport compared with many international destinations. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company usually handles the application after making an eligible job offer. Requirements depend on nationality, qualifications, salary and role. Relocating employees should budget for accommodation deposits, medical checks, insurance and permits. Malaysia has a tropical climate, so newcomers should expect heat, humidity and seasonal monsoon conditions, particularly on resort islands.
