Previous hotel or food and beverage experience is helpful, although suitable Emirati candidates may be considered through the Emiratization program. The successful candidate should be customer-focused, dependable, well presented and able to manage several tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays is normally required.
Shangri-La is a global luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognized for its Asian-inspired service, elegant hotels and resorts, and strong focus on personalized guest experiences. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and North America, including hotels, resorts and related hospitality services. Shangri-La places emphasis on gracious service, cultural awareness, employee development and operational excellence. Its United Arab Emirates properties serve business and leisure travelers and provide opportunities across food and beverage, rooms, culinary, guest services and corporate functions. Working for Shangri-La typically involves an international environment, high service standards and close teamwork. The company also participates in local talent-development initiatives, including Emiratization, which supports the recruitment and career progression of UAE nationals in the private sector.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers a coastal lifestyle with beaches, waterfront resorts and major opportunities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, technology, healthcare and construction are important employment sectors. UAE culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; respectful dress, consideration for Islamic customs and professionalism are important. Lifestyle options range from city dining and shopping to desert excursions, water sports and cultural attractions. For most expatriates, the employer sponsors a residence and work visa after an offer is accepted, usually covering medical testing, Emirates ID processing and related formalities. UAE nationals generally do not require employment sponsorship. Relocating employees should confirm housing, transport, insurance, flights and allowances in the contract. Costs can be high, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, so checking accommodation arrangements and probation terms is advisable.
