Singapore is a compact, modern island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and neighbourhoods. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and highly connected, although accommodation and daily expenses can be relatively high. Public transport is excellent, and English is widely used at work and in daily life. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. Relocating workers should budget for housing, insurance, transport and deposits, and verify employment terms, work-pass eligibility and accommodation arrangements before moving.
