Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, property management, security, engineering, wellness and marine activities, especially in Bali, Java, Lombok and the Riau Islands. Bali is internationally popular for its beaches, resorts and expatriate communities, while Jakarta and other cities provide broader corporate and infrastructure careers. Indonesian culture is diverse, welcoming and community-oriented, with strong regional traditions, religious customs and varied cuisine. Lifestyle can range from busy urban living to relaxed island communities, although traffic, humidity, seasonal rain and occasional infrastructure limitations should be considered. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa and stay permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers often assist with immigration, accommodation, transport, meals, insurance and relocation, but packages vary. Candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, tax treatment, housing and contract conditions before accepting an offer.
