About the employer

Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Traders Hotels and other hospitality brands. The group is known for service-focused operations, strong guest relationships and a people-centred workplace culture. In Malaysia, Shangri-La properties include hotels and resorts serving business travellers, holidaymakers, families and events customers. The company also places growing emphasis on responsible tourism, community involvement, environmental protection and social sustainability. A CSR Executive may work across departments to turn these commitments into practical programmes, measure their outcomes and communicate progress to employees, guests and external partners.

Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sustainability, business services and community programmes, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and major resort areas. Its island destinations provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, diving, nature and strong tourism employment, while cities offer better transport, healthcare and professional networks. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in hotels and business. Living costs are moderate, though island accommodation can be seasonal and more expensive. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and the company must meet Malaysian immigration requirements before work begins. Candidates should confirm contract benefits, accommodation, insurance, tax treatment, relocation support and whether the role is city- or resort-based. Malaysia’s warm climate, diverse food and friendly communities make relocation attractive, but traffic, humidity and regional distance should be considered.
