The Senior Sales Manager (MICE) is responsible for generating business from meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, developing corporate accounts, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts and achieving revenue targets. Candidates should have several years of hotel or hospitality sales experience, preferably within the MICE segment, strong knowledge of the Indonesian market and an established corporate network. Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills are essential, together with commercial awareness, accurate forecasting and the ability to manage multiple events. The role expects a proactive, target-driven professional who can build lasting client relationships, coordinate closely with operations and represent Shangri-La to important local and international customers.
Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa. The company is known for refined service, distinctive properties and its philosophy of warm Asian hospitality. Shangri-La hotels typically serve business travellers, leisure guests, families and large corporate or social events. In Indonesia, the group has operated prominent properties in destinations such as Jakarta and Bali, offering accommodation, restaurants, conference facilities, wellness services and event spaces. Employees generally work in an international environment with structured service standards, professional development opportunities and strong emphasis on guest satisfaction. Sales teams are expected to build long-term corporate partnerships while supporting the hotel’s positioning in the competitive luxury and MICE markets.
Indonesia is an archipelago with varied career opportunities across Jakarta, Bali, Java, Lombok and other resort islands. Hospitality professionals can find roles in luxury hotels, convention venues, restaurants, tourism companies and event agencies, with Jakarta strongest for corporate MICE business and Bali especially active in destination events and leisure tourism. Local culture values courtesy, relationships, modesty and respect for religious traditions; English is useful in international hotels, while Indonesian improves daily communication. Lifestyle ranges from fast-paced city living to relaxed beach communities, with generally affordable food and transport but higher costs in central Jakarta and popular Bali areas. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship, an approved work permit and the appropriate limited-stay visa before starting work. Relocation planning should include accommodation, health insurance, tax registration and document legalization. Check current immigration rules with the employer or an Indonesian consulate.
