Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other tourism destinations. Bali is the most internationally oriented market, with strong demand in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, wellness and events; Jakarta provides more corporate and business-hotel roles. Local culture values respectful communication, community relationships, religious observance and hierarchy. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, while traffic, tropical weather and seasonal tourism should be considered. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers commonly assist with documentation, medical checks and relocation arrangements, but this must be confirmed in the contract. Learn about local taxes, accommodation costs, health insurance and the specific island before accepting an offer.
