Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not a single island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, with extensive coastlines and resort islands. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, property, finance, technology and healthcare offer many job opportunities. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest clothing, respect for Islamic customs and consideration during Ramadan are important. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living and shopping to beaches, desert activities and modern entertainment. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are pleasant. Expatriate employees usually need an employment entry permit and residence visa sponsored by the employer, along with medical checks and Emirates ID registration. UAE nationals generally have different documentation requirements. Employers may provide accommodation, transport, meals and health insurance, but applicants should confirm all benefits, working hours and contract terms before relocating.
