Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and professional services. Tourism and hotel jobs are available in front office, food and beverage, events, housekeeping and human resources, although competition can be strong. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally fast-paced, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle highlights include excellent public transport, diverse food, safe neighbourhoods, shopping, parks and easy access to regional destinations. Living costs, especially rent, are high; shared accommodation or employer-supported housing may be helpful. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass or S Pass sponsored by an employer, with eligibility depending on salary, qualifications and government criteria. Applicants should secure a job offer before relocating and confirm pass approval before travel. Singapore’s hot, humid climate makes lightweight clothing and air-conditioned workplaces standard.
