The Store & Receiving Officer manages hotel deliveries, inventory records, storage, and the inspection of goods received. Typical requirements include relevant experience in hotel purchasing, stores, receiving, or inventory control; basic computer and inventory-system skills; good organizational ability; and an understanding of receiving procedures, quality checks, and documentation. The candidate is expected to verify quantities and quality, maintain accurate stock records, coordinate with suppliers and hotel departments, follow food-safety and workplace procedures, and support regular stock counts. Attention to detail, physical stamina, honesty, and clear communication are important. Cantonese and English are useful in Hong Kong, while experience with a luxury hotel or Shangri-La systems would be advantageous.
Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. Founded in 1971, the group is known for premium service, Asian-inspired hospitality, and brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La, and Traders. Its properties typically provide accommodation, restaurants and bars, banqueting, wellness facilities, and business or leisure services. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on personalized guest care, operational standards, employee development, and cultural awareness. A Store & Receiving Officer supports the behind-the-scenes supply chain that enables the hotel’s kitchens, restaurants, housekeeping, and other departments to operate smoothly and maintain consistent service quality.
Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected international city with busy urban districts, outlying islands, mountains, beaches, and a strong food and arts culture. Hospitality offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, clubs, events, tourism, and luxury retail, with Cantonese and English particularly valuable. Life is fast-paced, convenient, and relatively expensive, especially for housing. Public transport is excellent, and many employees live in districts outside the central areas to reduce rent. Foreign nationals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, commonly through the General Employment Policy; the job must meet immigration and salary requirements. Employers may assist with documentation, but applicants should confirm visa terms directly. New arrivals should budget for deposits, temporary accommodation, healthcare, and daily commuting. Hong Kong’s climate is humid, with hot summers and occasional typhoons.
