About the employer

Shangri-La is an international luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other global destinations. The group operates under a strong service culture built around genuine care, attention to detail and personalized guest experiences. Its Hong Kong properties, including Island Shangri-La, offer upscale accommodation, restaurants, lounges, wellness facilities and extensive meeting services. Shangri-La places emphasis on colleague development, cultural awareness, professional presentation and long-term guest relationships. Employees typically work in an international environment with structured training, staff benefits and opportunities to progress within the wider hotel group. A Tea Master role reflects the company’s focus on refined food and beverage experiences, especially the appreciation of premium Chinese tea and knowledgeable, personal service.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination offering strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, retail, technology and international business. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions, Chinese heritage and global influences, with tea, dim sum, festivals and family dining remaining important parts of daily life. The lifestyle is fast-paced and urban, with excellent public transport, major shopping districts, hiking trails, beaches and a vibrant food scene. Housing can be expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so many newcomers share apartments or live in the New Territories. Most foreign employees require an employment visa sponsored by their employer; applicants generally need a confirmed job, relevant qualifications or experience and proof that the role cannot easily be filled locally. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. Relocation planning should include housing, healthcare, banking and local registration arrangements.
