Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong and recognised for its hotels, resorts and serviced residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. The group is known for Asian-inspired hospitality, personalised service and a strong emphasis on colleague development and guest experience. Shangri-La employs people across hotel operations, corporate functions, food and beverage, wellness and commercial roles. Its Hong Kong headquarters supports the group’s regional and global activities, including human resources, finance, technology, procurement, branding and business strategy. Working for the company can provide exposure to a multinational hospitality environment, cross-border projects and a service culture that values professionalism, cultural awareness and long-term relationship building.
Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city and island territory with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, professional services and international business. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences, offering excellent food, festivals, shopping and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Public transport is efficient, while housing is expensive and space is limited; many professionals live in Kowloon or the New Territories and commute to Hong Kong Island. English is widely used in business, although Cantonese is valuable for daily life and local workplaces. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, with approval depending on qualifications, salary and the role’s business need. Employers commonly assist with visa applications and relocation guidance, but candidates should budget for deposits, rent, healthcare and living costs. Hong Kong also offers easy regional travel and a wide range of hiking, beaches and outdoor activities.
