Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, modern island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, security, technology, finance, healthcare and logistics. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle options range from excellent public transport, shopping and dining to parks, beaches and vibrant neighbourhoods. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central areas, so many workers choose shared accommodation or locations close to MRT lines. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an S Pass or Employment Pass, subject to Ministry of Manpower requirements; security roles may also involve local licensing or training conditions. Applicants should confirm eligibility, salary requirements and any licensing rules before accepting an offer. Singapore is safe and convenient, but budgeting carefully for rent, transport and daily expenses is important.
