Flexibility for shifts, weekends and public holidays is essential, along with a professional attitude, teamwork and attention to detail.
Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Asia, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. The group is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards, elegant accommodation and extensive food and beverage operations. Shangri-La properties generally provide structured training, career development and opportunities to work with international colleagues. In Indonesia, the company has operated well-established luxury hotels serving business travellers, leisure guests, families and large events. Kitchen employees are expected to maintain strong standards of cleanliness, consistency and guest satisfaction while working collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Benefits and working conditions vary by property and may include service charge, meals, uniforms, medical support, accommodation or transport, depending on the location and employment contract.
Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other islands, particularly in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism and events. Bali is the best-known international resort destination, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate communities and vibrant Balinese Hindu culture. Jakarta provides more corporate and city-hotel roles, while Lombok and other islands offer quieter surroundings and growing tourism markets. Living costs vary considerably, with resort areas often more expensive than regional towns. Candidates should respect local customs, dress appropriately at religious sites and learn basic Bahasa Indonesia. Foreign workers normally require employer sponsorship and the correct work and residence permits; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers typically handle or support immigration paperwork, but applicants should confirm the visa, accommodation, insurance, salary and service-charge terms before relocating.
