Candidates should be reliable, physically fit, well-presented and comfortable with cleaning duties. Good customer-service skills, attention to detail, teamwork and basic spoken English are expected; Cantonese or Mandarin may be advantageous in Hong Kong. Previous hotel, spa, housekeeping or facility-service experience is helpful, although suitable applicants may receive on-the-job training.

In Hong Kong, Shangri-La has established luxury hotels serving business travellers, leisure guests, dining customers and events. Employees generally work in an international environment with opportunities across rooms, food and beverage, wellness, engineering, administration and management. The company typically looks for courteous, dependable employees who can maintain professional standards while delivering attentive service.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, healthcare and professional services. The culture combines Chinese traditions, Cantonese food and festivals with a highly international lifestyle. Residents enjoy excellent public transport, vibrant shopping and dining, hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands, although housing is expensive and living space is often limited. Hospitality employees may work shifts, weekends and public holidays, with good prospects for progression in large hotel groups. Foreign nationals normally need an approved employment visa before starting work; the employer generally supports the application, and the applicant must show a valid job offer, suitable qualifications or experience and market-level pay. Dependants may qualify for dependant visas. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, deposits and daily expenses, and confirm accommodation, medical coverage, working hours and visa sponsorship directly with the employer.
