Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations, with demand for hotel, restaurant, reservations and guest-service professionals. Penang combines heritage streets, food culture and a relaxed island lifestyle, while Langkawi offers beaches, nature and resort employment. Sabah provides access to diving, rainforest and outdoor activities. Malaysia is culturally diverse, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and English is widely used in hotels. Living costs vary, with resort islands often requiring housing or transport planning. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and the employer normally handles the application. Candidates should secure a written offer before travelling, check accommodation and benefits, and confirm passport, medical and immigration requirements. Weather is tropical year-round, with monsoon conditions varying by coast.
