The Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports the Executive Housekeeper in managing daily housekeeping operations, guest-room cleanliness, public-area standards, linen control, supplies, scheduling and team performance. Candidates are generally expected to have hospitality housekeeping experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or international resort, with supervisory experience and strong knowledge of cleaning standards, room inspections and health and safety procedures. Good communication, organization, attention to detail and the ability to train and motivate colleagues are essential. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, while maintaining Shangri-La’s service standards and responding professionally to guest needs.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a major international luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong. The company operates hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other destinations under the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. Its properties are known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and extensive guest facilities, including restaurants, spas, conference venues and leisure activities. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates well-known city hotels and resorts, employing professionals across rooms division, food and beverage, engineering, sales and administration. Employees typically work in multicultural teams and receive structured operational training, staff benefits and opportunities for career progression, although packages vary by property and position.
Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, logistics, technology and professional services. Popular island destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Tioman and parts of Sabah provide resort-based work, while Kuala Lumpur and other mainland cities offer broader career options. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in hospitality, alongside Malay and other local languages. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, though island resorts can be more expensive and quieter outside peak seasons. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling approval and immigration procedures. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, meals, transport, medical coverage, contract terms and work-permit responsibility. Malaysia has a tropical climate, so prepare for heat, humidity and heavy rain.
