Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology and business services. Island and coastal destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Tioman, Redang and parts of Sabah and Sarawak are especially active in hospitality, although seasonal demand can affect vacancies. Life is generally affordable compared with major international cities, with warm weather, diverse food, multicultural communities and good access to beaches and nature. Kuala Lumpur provides the widest professional network, while island locations offer a quieter resort lifestyle but may have higher costs for imported goods and fewer transport links. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and must meet Malaysian immigration and employment requirements; working before approval is not permitted. Employers usually guide medical checks, visa applications and relocation paperwork. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, service charge, insurance and permit responsibilities before accepting an offer.
